A breast lift is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia. The surgery lasts between two and three hours, depending on the complexity of the case.
Dr. Sistare will make precise incisions to minimize scarring. The most common incision techniques include:
- Vertical (lollipop) incision: This incision extends down from the areola to the breast crease.
- J incision: This incision extends downward to the breast crease, and also along one side of the crease.
- Anchor-shaped incision: Also called an inverted T incision, this incision pattern is similar to the J incision but extends the incision to both sides of the breast crease. It is typically used for more significant sagging.
Through these incisions, Dr. Sistare reshapes the breast tissue, tightens underlying structures, and removes excess skin. The nipple and areola are repositioned to a higher, more youthful location, and, if necessary, the areola size is reduced for a balanced appearance.
